The Identity Tampa Bay recommends three things to do this weekend:
Marvel’s Defenders of the Diamond Night
Friday 6:30 p.m. | BayCare Ballpark, Clearwater
If you failed to get your cosplay fix in at Tampa’s Comic Con last month, a new opportunity has arrived to go full Avenger in a public setting.
The Threshers take on the St. Lucie Mets as part of MiLB’s official ‘Defenders of the Diamond’ Series Friday night. Threshers players and coaches will be wearing custom Iron Man-themed jerseys, some of which will be available autographed in an auction to benefit Costumers with a Cause.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. first pitch at BayCare Ballpark.
813 Day at American Social
Saturday 3 – 6 p.m. | American Social, Tampa
These three digits have come a long way since being snubbed from Ludacris’s 2001 classic “Area Codes.”
Join us in celebrating the triumph of Tampa the best way we know how: By sitting dockside with a drink in-hand and an assembly of grilled snacks.
$15 gets you a free cocktail and all you can eat pretzel bites, dip and sliders—roughly $65 worth of food & drink depending on how hungry you are. It’s also the first Saturday of NFL preseason football, featuring an evening matchup between the Bucs and Dolphins. And as for the afterparty, Park & Rec will be hosting $8 Ketel Ones, Crowns and Don Julios just a vortex throw away starting at 7 p.m.
Joey Harkum Band with Blake Daniels
Saturday 8 p.m. | Hooch & Hive, Tampa
After you’ve had your fill of 813 Day at AmSo and Channelside, well, have some more.
Joey Harkum brings an Americana four-piece to Hooch & Hive late Saturday with one of our favorite local artists, Blake Daniels, opening up. Tickets are $10 for a seat at the Hive’s quintessential indoor-outdoor hybrid bar and venue.
