The Identity Tampa Bay recommends three things to do this weekend:
Gasparilla Festival of the Arts
Saturday & Sunday | Julian B. Lane Riverside Park, Tampa
The Gasparilla Festival of the Arts has been rocking for more than 50 years. A showcase of some of the country’s top artists, all in search of a lucrative $15,000 Raymond James Best of Show Award and an additional $77,000 in prize money.
We the people, on the other hand, get to enjoy it all stress-free of winning any money. Including a myriad of live music and food vendors in Julian B. Lane, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Tampa Museum of Art. Admission is open to the public with donations encouraged.
Tampa Pro
Thursday – Sunday | SkatePark of Tampa, Tampa
It’s once again that righteous time of year in which the two most happening spots (no pun intended) in town are SkatePark of Tampa and The Bricks.
It’s one of the premier skate competitions in the country harking back to 1995. As always, it’s accompanied by an excellent slate of after-parties and events, starting with “Skate Trivia” at The Bricks tonight. Along with STARHEADBODY performing Friday night. Daily tickets start at $15 with weekend passes available.
The Isley Brothers at the Strawberry Festival
Saturday 7:30 p.m. | Florida Strawberry Festival, Plant City
Ice Cube’s “It Was a Good Day.” The Isley Brothers.
“Voyage to Atlantis.” The Isley Brothers.
You and a strawberry shortcake. The Isley Brothers.
The Florida Strawberry Festival may be lacking in booze, but it’s stacked to the gills with fresh strawberries and elite throwback artists this year. Starting with the aforementioned Isley Brothers and [licks rolling paper] Willie Nelson this weekend. Tickets remain in the single digits for the festival, with concerts ranging in price.
