The Identity recommends three things to do this weekend around Tampa Bay:
Vinyl Fever Throwback Nite
Friday 6 – 9 p.m. | Daddy Kool Records, St. Pete
All former employees, customers and fans of the once coveted and now legendary Vinyl Fever record store are invited to Daddy Kool Records this Friday. A wonderous invitation to talk music, see old friends and reminisce on the good ol’ days of the Red Hot Chili Peppers on cassette tape.
The St. Pete record store is a local hub for all things music with some pretty sweet merch to boot. So if, say, you’re just a tad too young to remember the Fever days, all walks of life are welcome to join the party.
Giorgi with The Tilt
Saturday 8 p.m. | Hooch & Hive, Tampa
We heard you’re long overdue for a seedy jam at a hip music locale. You just are.
Enter Giorgi and The Tilt at Hooch & Hive Saturday night, where elements of anthemic rock and avant-pop will pump through the Hive’s signature indoor-outdoor bar hall. Both bands are upcoming and homegrown in Florida, the latter branding themselves “the loudest band in outer space.” So we got that going for us.
Tickets are only $10 with tunes starting around 8 p.m.
Monster Jam
Saturday 6 p.m. & Sunday 2 p.m. | Raymond James Stadium, Tampa
Oh, you thought we’d let a weekender pass by without a kind reminder that Monster Jam is back?
No chance.
Grave Digger, Megalodon and the lot are back for a high-flying showcase of big-wheeled metal—attempting the backflips and big jumps of every hardcore driver’s dreams. One truck even has arms! And is currently in third place in the standings, at that.
Tickets start at $20 for either session at RayJay this weekend.
