The Identity Tampa Bay recommends three things to do this weekend:
The Currys at The Attic
Friday, 7 p.m. | Rock Brothers Brewery, Ybor City
The Currys are an Americana trio out of Charlottesville with a range of sounds in tow, from the breezy “Gulf Coast Home” to the more upbeat and in-the-pocket “Man on the Side.” Glorious harmonies, righteous guitar craft—they bring the works. And it’s a perfect sound for Rock Brothers Brewing’s top-notch listening room in The Attic.
Sit down, relax, have a beer, enjoy some phenomenal live music in Ybor. Tickets stand at $25 with a VIP option available for a meet and greet and reserved seating.
Comedy at Kozuba’s
Saturday, 8 p.m. | Kozuba and Son’s Distillery, St. Pete
Kozuba and Son’s has been flying under the radar while hauling in some extraordinary grades for their locally distilled, Polish-crafted whiskeys and vodkas. And we have to imagine the few brands rated above them certainly aren’t hosting stand-up comedy nights.
Six of Florida’s funniest comedians in Tony Gaud, Te Davis, Malakye Morgan, James Hollingsworth, Rashad Baker and Trish Davis will take the distillery stage in St. Pete Saturday for a night of heavy laughter, depending on how much product you consume.
Sets appear to be short and sweet. So be sure to roll up on time, and keep a look out for more from Kozuba and Son’s in our upcoming 727to813 celebration of Tampa Bay.
Cruel Summer: A Taylor Swift Inspired Dance Party
Saturday, 9 p.m. | The Orpheum, North Tampa
Some days you just have roll the windows up, crank the volume knob and throw on some T-Swift.
We’ve all been there.
Which is why we’re directing our fellow Swifties to Cruel Summer at The Orpheum’s new location just north of Skipper’s Smokehouse. It’s a full-on dance party of nothing but her highest, chart-topping hits. Go crazy. Let it out. Expect it to have the same therapeutic effect as it does in your moving vehicle.
