The Identity Tampa Bay recommends three things to do this weekend:
Parrotfish with Visit Neptune, Gary Lazer Eyes
Friday 8 p.m. | Hooch & Hive, Tampa
Tampa-bred band Parrotfish plays a seedy hometown show with fellow Jesuit grads Visit Neptune and Gary Lazer Eyes (!!) this Friday.
Each band carries inspiring potential to the Hooch & Hive stage, where you can nosh on sliders and fancy a strong cocktail in between sets. Expect strong progression, insane talent (Parrotfish is by way of Belmont University in Nashville) and a great sound well-suited to kick off your weekend.
Coastal Creative Comedy Competition
Saturday 8 – 11 p.m. | Coastal Creative, St. Pete
The higher the stakes, the bigger the laughs.
St. Pete’s one-of-a-kind Coastal Creative space hosts its Ultimate Battle of Laughs Saturday night as 10 comedians take the mic for a gut-busting battle royale. And here’s the kicker: you decide the most hilarious of them all. Tickets start at $10 for admission.
Summer Classics Movie Series: Mrs. Doubtfire
Sunday 3 p.m. | Tampa Theatre, Downtown Tampa
Regarding any potential Sunday Scaries: Help is on the way, dear—in the form of a bona fide Robin Williams classic in Tampa’s most charming theater.
That’s right, one of the most memorable and hysterical performances of Williams’ prolific career is back on the big screen. Dancing and cleaning his way right back into your heart. A comic, feel-good affair to wind down any good Sunday.
