The Identity Tampa Bay recommends three things to do this weekend:
Sarah Shook & The Disarmers
Friday 7 p.m. | New World Brewery, Tampa
One of the most talked about names in alt-country plays New World Brewery Friday night in Sarah Shook, who had to cancel a December Ybor City gig last minute.
The makeup show is in righteous hands with her stately backing band The Disarmers, who together, as Creative Loafing’s Ray Roa puts it, play “a special brand of Americana that flirts with take-no-shit rock and roll.” They’ll run through Shook’s heralded 2022 album Mightmare at one of the coolest music halls this side of the bay.
Rides by the River
Saturday 8 – 11 a.m. | Armature Works, Tampa Heights
If you’re a car collector, auto enthusiast, hot rod nut, or just simply into looking at cool cars, Armature Works is the place to be Saturday morning.
Hundreds of Tampa Bays’ hottest exotic and classic cars will be on display with Buddy Brew and Craving Donuts trucks on site. While local dealers and automotive vendors will also show off some of their latest vehicles and top-of-the-line products.
The event is free to attend and even free to show your car. Time to rev it up if you think you got the wheels.
Coastal Comedy Battle Royale
Saturday 8 p.m. | Coastal Creative, St. Pete
Coastal Creative has been quietly rolling out a consistent and hysterical comedy scene at their studio-venue hybrid in St. Pete.
This weekend it’s a laugh-on-laugh throwdown hosted by Dan Bakst featuring eight top comedians from past competitions, all prepared to duke it out for a $500 cash prize. Tickets are just $10 for a gut-busting night of standup.
