The Identity Tampa Bay recommends three things to do this weekend:
Rhythm & Brews by the Bay
Friday 7 p.m. | The Florida Aquarium, Tampa
The Florida Aquarium’s local craft brewery fest is hitting ’90s nostalgia so hard this weekend that if it didn’t have so much delicious beer on hand, it might as well crack open a Surge.
Ken Block and Drew Copeland of Sister Hazel fame are opening up for The Gin Blossoms, whose hits “Follow You Down” and “Jealousy” you’ve undoubtedly heard in your favorite millennium rom-com of yore.
As far as the suds are concerned, renowned local breweries like Coppertail, Florida Avenue, Green Bench, 3 Daughters and more will be on tap alongside national favorites like Kona. A Friday night with unlimited beer samplings and ’90s alt-rock is always a night well spent.
The Daily Show Writers Comedy Tour
Friday 8 p.m. | Central Park Performing Arts Center, Largo
Ever wondered how legendary comedy shows keep the jokes rolling night-in, night-out?
Comedy Central’s longest-running program “The Daily Show” has its writers on the road this year to help paint the picture. Emmy-nominated writers Kat Radley, Matt Koff, Randall Otis and Joe Opio combine their comedic talents for a gut-busting night of insight and fun in Largo.
Tickets start at $24 with reserved seating available.
USF vs. Florida Watch Parties
Saturday 7:30 p.m. | Various Locations
The Bulls look to avenge last year’s 42-20 loss to Florida against a fired-up Gators team coming off head coach Billy Napier’s first loss. A tough task in The Swamp—but nonetheless, we must and will watch.
The game touts a matchup of two fierce, big-time fanbases in the Tampa Bay area. The Tampa Gators will be at The Patio for their usual chomping of beer buckets in all things orange and blue. USF fans can find a morale boost at Duffy’s in Tampa and Glory Days Grill in St. Pete as they cheer on the upset.
